What we fix, and what it costs
Prices for the jobs people ask about most, printed here so you can compare. For everything else you get a written estimate before we start.
Posted prices
Starting prices, with tax added. We confirm the exact price for your car in writing before any work begins.
Prices are starting prices for most cars and light trucks. Trucks with diesel engines, luxury and some European models cost more; we tell you before you commit.

How we price
A number first, never a surprise after
After the inspection, Dana sends you a written estimate with photos. It lists each repair, in order of how urgent it is, with parts and labor. You approve what you want done, and we do exactly that.
If the job turns out bigger once we’re in there, we stop and call you. We don’t add a “shop supplies” fee, and the only charges are on this page or on your estimate.
- Written estimate before any work
- We call before anything extra
- Old parts back on request
- No shop-supplies fee

Which cars
Most makes, and what we leave to others
We work on domestic and import cars, SUVs, minivans and light trucks. Subarus, Hondas, Toyotas, Fords and Chevrolets fill most of our bays, and the technicians are used to the rust and road salt that come with a Pennsylvania winter.
We don’t do body work, heavy-duty diesel trucks, exotics or high-voltage battery repair on electric cars. When a job isn’t ours, we say so on the phone and, if we can, tell you who to call.
- Domestic and import, 1996 and newer
- Hybrid and electric brakes, tires and suspension
- No body work or heavy diesel
Pricing questions
How much does it cost to diagnose a check engine light?
$135. That pays for about an hour with the scan tool, test equipment and a road test if it helps. If you approve the repair, we take the $135 off the labor. Some lights take longer to find; if we need more time we call you first and never go over without your okay.
Will you tell me the price before you start?
Always, in writing, by text or email. If we find something else once the car is apart, we stop, call you with the new price and wait for your okay. Anything over $500 is also signed off by Tom before it reaches you. You never get a bigger bill than the estimate you approved.
What is your hourly rate?
Our shop rate is $128 an hour. We price most repairs from a published flat-rate guide, which means the price is the same whether the job goes smoothly or the bolts fight us. The price you approve is the price you pay.
Can I bring my own parts?
On most jobs, yes. Labor is the same, but we can’t warranty a part we didn’t supply, and if it fails the labor to replace it again is on you. Parts we supply, and our labor on them, carry our full warranty. Call first so we can tell you whether a part is a good one.
What forms of payment do you take, and do you offer financing?
Cash, checks and all major credit and debit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. For a bigger repair we can email a secure link so you can pay by card from your phone. We don’t offer financing right now. For bigger jobs we write the estimate in order of importance, so you can do the safety work first and schedule the rest.
Not sure what you need?
Describe what it’s doing. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a quick fix, a check or a bigger job.
